Phil Helyar, former rider and owner of MXRaceTime, has dedicated his life to the world of Motocross. Coming from a family steeped in the sport, with his father Des Helyar racing from the late 50s to the 70s and establishing his own motorcycle shop, Phil's passion runs deep. He began his journey in 1988, competing in schoolboy events at Portsmouth Schoolboys and quickly made a name for himself by winning club championships at both Portsmouth and Berks & Hants.
Phil began his impressive journey in 1992, smoothly stepping into the family motorcycle business right after finishing school. With more than 20 years of experience managing the parts and clothing division, he established himself as a key player in the motorcycle community. Following a short two-year break from racing in the mid-90s—simply a tactical pause—he made a triumphant return to the track, achieving Expert status on his CR250. His steadfast dedication to both the business and racing highlights his profound passion, and he continues to motivate fellow enthusiasts with his expertise and confidence.
In November 2013, Phil experienced a life-altering motocross accident that resulted in paralysis from the waist down. Despite this significant challenge, his dedication to the sport remained unwavering. In 2016, Phil established MXRaceTime, allowing him to continue his involvement in the motocross community he has been a part of for many years. Through this initiative, he aims to inspire others to pursue their passions regardless of the obstacles they may face.
